Manufacturing Simulation

Manufacturing is a broad term.  It may refer to baking 100,000 loafs of bread every morning, or building one ocean liner every two years. Both may appear to be on extreme ends of the spectrum, and have little in common, but at their base both are in fact dealing with the same components. They are taking inputs, processing them, and creating outputs. In doing these, they will both meet challenges similar challenges, as well as their own unique ones, that need to be managed.

Enter manufacturing simulation. Understanding the inner working of your processes, and how all the variables interact and respond will give you great power over the management of your process. Manufacturing simulation allows you to model your processes in a virtual environment and carry out analysis to identify inefficiencies and explore “what-if” changes to your process e.g. what would be the effect of adding a second person to work on a bottleneck in your manufacturing. These changes and analysis can all be done safely from the comfort of your computer, and their affect analysed without the need to risk the changes in the real world.

Manufacturing simulation is used by some of the largest manufacturers in Ireland (Dell, Intel, HP, Boston Scientific), and has a proven background of producing significant savings.

At Process Improvement Ireland, we use Flexsim as our manufacturing simulation tool. Flexsim is an extremely powerful tool that allows for large scale customization and for modeling, analyzing, visualizing, and optimizing any imaginable process.
